The archipelago of Stockholm is the world’s largest, with over 35.000 islands scattered in the Baltic Sea. Ingarö is a fairly large island in the archipelago of Stockholm. And also close to Stockholm. There is a bridge over to the island and it only takes about 30 minutes from downtown Stockholm out to the island. (Approx. 45 kilometers).

Many people have been moving out permanently to the island as they discover that it is very close to downtown Stockholm, there is very good public transportation and the city is so close to nature and the sea as well. Today there are 15 houses on the road and 9 of them have families that live out here permanently.

We have tried to build a house that will work for us now and also in the future, when our girls probably will be coming out here with friends and boyfriends as well as for when we grow old. Also, my side of the family is large, and when we get together for birthday parties, dinners and other holidays there are around 30 people in our close family! We like to have people over as well and have tried to build a house where people feel welcome and want to stay. The word has spread and two interior magazines have been at the house and published articles about it;

“Ingarö is one of the bigger islands in the archipelago. You can get there by boat, buss or car. Lovely nature, water and boats have attracted summer guests for this whole century. Today more and more of the city people are finding their way to Ingarö and are moving out permanently, tired of the city buzz, the high rents and prices. “Even though it was our summerhouse it does feel like it was here that I grew up”, says Helena. “The image of the pier, the boats and the calm water is always a positive mental picture for me.

One should always feel welcome here. No guest should be put on an old sofa with an extra pillow and old blanket”, says Helena with a smile. We understand that no guest in this house would feel anything but welcome. 

The house is 155 kvm large and very modern. It has 6 beds, one bathroom with shower and bathtub, one guest toilet, TV, VCR and DVD and a great collection of movies as well as 14 channels on the TV. The kitchen has all modern appliances such as dishwasher, microwave, oven, and stove and is well equipped. For children there is a kids room with all kinds of toys. There are heated floors in the bathroom and hall and there is an open fireplace in the living room. There is also a deck – 75 kvm large as well as quite a large garden.
